Broken links found within your website not only frustrates your visitors, it also runs the risk of having it penalized or removed completely from Google Search engine. This is seen clearly by reading Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
The old way to check for broken links is to load each page in your browser and manually click each link to see if it opens. An easier way, is to use free software that can check all your website pages and links within a few minutes.
A great way to test for broken links is to use an online checker like Dead Links.
