Lost in Oahu
November 20th, 2007
MatthewAfter two years of searching while on Oahu, yesterday, I heard that they were shooting a scene for lost near us so I packed up the family and we headed out on an expedition.
To my suprise they were not filming a show, they were taking promo shots and interviews. The area was close to Turtle Bay in a remote area seldom visited by guests.
I got some pictures with most of the cast that I will post when I get back. All the actors were relatively friendly and willing to take a picture with us and of course, I gave them all business cards and my sales pitch.
I have been having technical difficulties with everything, my laptop, my phone, the internet connection, etc.
This picture was taken with my phone and shows two of the stars. Good luck figuring it out but I wanted to post something and cannot get the pictures off my camera until I return.
Maui Wowi
November 16th, 2007
MatthewI am doing well in Maui. One of my favorite spots on the island is the Maui Roasting Company. They roast good coffee. I went today and they had posted the following sign.![]()
The current gas price is $3.74 a gallon here. Strangely a gallon of milk will set you back $7.50 . Anyways, I had to post this because this is exactly how I feel about the gas prices the past few years.
I will be flying back to Oahu on Saturday and will be meeting with a few other “computer nerds” to discuss our future and growing the company on the islands. I really look forward to seeing everybody and discussing our capabilities. 2008 is going to be a great year for the company. I have a HUGE partnership being announced in December when I get back to the mainland..
Honolulu
November 9th, 2007
MatthewWell, I made it to Oahu. It was not easy and we nearly missed our plane. Traveling with 4 kids is touch, very tough. I am working today for a few hours, Juston is working also. So, if you need anything do not hesitate to email or call me. However, this Sunday we go to Maui and I plan on doing as little work as possible for that week. Then I will be back to work on the following Monday…
Anyways, thanks for checking out the blog and my lame post. I do want to share a picture I took with my phone…
What exactly is the name of this street. I am not sure I am pronouncing everything correctly… What do you think?
Hawaii Bound
November 6th, 2007
MatthewAs many of you are aware, I have been trying to build the business in Hawaii and I am going to Oahu and Maui to work and play. I leave on Nov 8 and return on Nov 28. We are looking at opening an office in Oahu and visiting some of our clients in Maui. I will have my cell phone with me at all times and will also be checking my email.
Please be advised that sometimes I have not received emails on my phone that I received on the desktop. SO if I do not response, please resend the email or follow up with a phone call.

Wordpress Static Home Page
November 5th, 2007
MatthewI’ve been asked about this a few times lately, I know there’s a plugin that does this, but this is the most simple way, by far.
Duplicate the page.php file of your theme and name it home.php
Right before the line that starts with “< ?php if (have_posts())…”,
add this line: “< ?php query_posts(’pagename=home’); ?>“
Create a page in the wordpress admin, and make sure that it’s post-slug is “home“
Done. Now the page called “home” will show as your homepage.
Dropshipping / Fulfillment
November 1st, 2007
MatthewThe Difference between drop shipping and order fulfillment.
Drop shipping is a method of selling and distributing goods where the supplier of the product (in this case, you) ships the product directly to the consumer on a middleman’s (retailer’s) behalf. The retailer pays you the wholesale price (plus shipping costs) and charges the consumer a mark-up. You, the supplier, can ship the product yourself, or you can choose to use a fullfillment service to process the orders for you.
Just because you can drop ship, doesn’t mean you necessarily want to. First, you will have to analyze the added costs. Many wholesalers prefer to ship multiple items to one retailer. It saves on order processing and shipping costs. Drop shipping is more labor intensive, and may require special packing slips and labels with the retailer’s name on them. A fullfillment service will pass those costs on to you, as well.
If the costs don’t seem prohibitive, then it may be a good idea to offer drop shipping. Thousands of people are looking for products to sell online, but don’t want to carry inventory. Finding a good drop shipper is the answer for them.
